This project involved a collaborative effort to develop an engaging experience based on a defined set of parameters provided by the client. After evaluating various prototypes, we selected an action role-playing game (ARPG) style. Our compact team of only four (comprising one designer, one programmer, one artist, and one animator) worked diligently over a two-month timeframe to deliver a finished prototype.
I assumed the role of designer for gameplay mechanics and level design, creating prototypes of the abilities and play space. The programmer then translated these designs into code, while the artist and animator aligned animations and produced world assets and visual effects.
This video comprehensively demonstrates the diverse player abilities integral to our demo prototype’s core mechanics. These abilities are strategically designed to provide multiple approaches for player progression, offering a dynamic gameplay experience. The ability set encompasses several distinct categories, primarily focusing on combat effectiveness and navigational strategies.
This next video takes us through an overview of the play area, showcasing the initial game environment and core exploration mechanics. Viewers will get a first glimpse of the game’s spatial design, highlighting key interactive zones and preliminary navigation pathways.
